Chanté Moore – Straight Up (City Kid Slow Jam Mix)

2013 November 5

So I just got hit up by brand new Duo ‘City kid Soul’ who is the collaborative force of Devin Rattie and Emma Pace. Their sound is inspired by Deep House, UK Bass and Hip-Hop and they’re based in London, but not in the big smoke with us, but on the other side of the Atlantic (London, Ontario, Canada) I took a listen to their offerings and by golly it’s good. Just a few hours ago they posted up this absolute gem of a remix of classic R&B track ‘Straight Up’ by Chante Moore. It’s that beautiful mid pace edit that sits between nu disco and R&B, and not that I like to make comparisons, but this would sit nicely with the likes of Moon Boots, it’s seriously smooth and you can grab it as a free download.

Now their next remix which is their debut track they only posted last week, is the initial track they sent me and to be honest, when I saw it was Kanye West, I very nearly didn’t even give it a listen – not that I’m against Kanye, but we get so much music sent to us here at Lipstick Disco and despite being a strictly Deep House and Disco blog, we get a huge amount of Trap, Hip-Hop and Urban stuff that just doesn’t suit and we don’t have time to listen to all of it.. but in this case, I’m glad I gave it a listen. This is a really outstanding remix, smooth deep house with great basslines and really clever use of the original track, I’m impressed with what they’ve done here. You can grab this as a free DL too.

I’m looking forward to hearing what else these guys have in store. In the meantime you can follow them:
