We are incredibly excited to be launching our new mixtape series, in which we will be bringing you exclusive DJ mixes from the finest female DJ talent across the globe.

We’re launching the series with an exclusive mix from the very talented Lauren Lane who first cut her teeth as a DJ on the New York house scene and now occupies a sought-after residency at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood. Since Sound opened in January 2013 she has warmed up for numerous, world-renown artists in the ever-evolving industry and is continuing her DJ journey on a global scale.

We’re also super excited to hear her play this Sat, as she’ll be in the main room at The Qube Project, alongside Tube & Berger and Edu Imbernon, and Jadele while we host the back room with our fabulous trio of ladies Michelle Manetti @hilitkolet & RUFUS&Bambi. If you’d like to see Lauren play and of course come along for a slice of the Lipstick Disco pie, grab your tickets. HERE.

Before we serve you up the delicious Deep mix, we managed to catch up with Lauren for a quick interview between her flights:

can you describe your sound in 5 words?
Always. exploring. many. different. Sounds.

What inspired you to become a DJ and how did you get your first set?
I was constantly helping my guy friends who were djs pick out music for their sets and one day I just realized I should stop doing all their work for them and try to DJ too. I was instantly hooked. I love making people dance and enjoy themselves.

What’s been the most difficult part of establishing yourself as a DJ?
It takes a lot of time and effort. Many years doing that opening spot, many hours in the studio, many hangovers and missed flights … But it’s all a learning process. It doesn’t feel like work when you have a job you really love.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far, or most memorable moment?
This past August I played at DC10 in Ibiza and Fabric in London and both of those gigs were really amazing for me. It feels like a dream to play in Europe at such notable clubs.

You’re based in LA, how would you say the scene differs over there to here in London?
I’m not really based anywhere anymore…Gypsy life! But the scene in LA is definitely growing for underground music. There’s a lot more warehouse parties and cool events than before but London has so many more possibilities.

What’s the one thing you love to do when you come to London?
vintage shop!

You’ve got a few productions and remixes under your belt, what have you got up your sleeve for the future?
I have a rework of Dirty Cash that was a special song this summer in ibiza coming out on Rumors. I have a new original EP coming out with two new tracks in the near future! I’m also working on a couple remixes so stay tuned!

Here at Lipstick disco we like to give the girls a shout, so tell us who’s you’re favorite and most inspiring fellow female DJ?
There’s too many to name but I really look up to Cassy, Nicole Moudaber and Ellen Alien. They are all incredibly talented amazing women.

And finally, What’s your drink of choice?
I was really into spicy coconut mojitos all summer! But tequila is my goto in the DJ booth.

Awesome stuff, we’ll have a Tequila lined up for you on Saturday! Hugest thanks to the lovely Lauren, now sit back and press play.
