International Womens Day

2015 March 8

So for those of you who don’t know, today is international womans day,  a celebration of women all over the world, so we thought we’d bring you a special post, with a selection of music exclusively from the Ladies.

Kick starting with a guest mix I did for my friends and DJ buddies Kate Wildblood and Queen Josephine for their ‘Home Service’ radio show on Brightons Radio Reverb. The show aired yesterday and was a ‘Womens Day Special’ so in keeping, I compiled a 12 min mix comprising of tracks and remixes from some of my fave ladies including: La Fleur, Hannah Wants, Joyce Muniz, Nicole Moudaber, Smokin’ Jo, Steffi, Virginia and Maya Schenk.

Check out the mix HERE:

Maya Schenk has recently come onto my radar and I’m super excited to have discovered her. Originally from Germany now residing locally to the lipstick Disco HQ in East London, her solid Techno and Tech House productions mixed with her own Miss Kittin style vocals are rapidly gaining her followers and she just dropped a new EP at the beginning of the week. My fave mix on the EP comes from female duo Black Girl, White Girl which premiered HERE (isn’t available to stream elsewhere)

Check the rest of the EP too.

Another UK based lady who’s recently come to my attention is MissB, based in Manchester and also producing some quality Tech House.  Her last EP ‘Bugged’ was ladylicious and features two original tracks and two remixes, one from Christy Love the other from lady I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the decks with myself. Dr Sleep.

Verity Mayes and Briony Masters AKA Maze & Masters are a duo homegrown from the Brighton scene round the same time as me and it’s great to see the girls are smashing it at the moment. Their latest production dropped on Room Service this week and it’s a bomb.

And finally, a long standing fave of mine Kim Ann Foxman has just unveiled her second release on her own Firehouse imprint, which includes three original tracks from her and two remixes from fellow New Yorker Eli Escobar, who’s ‘Super New York Mix’ is the only taster available to stream for now.

A Veritable feast from some super talented ladies.

Happy International Womens day!
