Introducing: Villette

2014 September 29
by Michelle Manetti

We are excited to introduce you to our latest member of the Lipstick Disco collective: Villette is the solo project of Siné Buyuka, a London-based techno and house DJ/producer from Istanbul. She’ll be bringing some Techno and Tech house influences to the blog.

Formerly a part of the indie dance duo Dancing Birds Feel The Beat, she started to perform in 2010 and supported the likes of Metronomy, Paul Banks, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Nothing and Wild Beasts in her hometown Istanbul. She also carried on with her music journalism career in Billboard Turkey and hosted a weekly radio show on Radio Eksen.

After moving to London in 2012, she picked up production and started her solo project Villette. Drawn to dark, melodic techno, she put out mixes and remixes which were picked up by some influential music blogs like Do Androids Dance, Acid Stag, The Techno Kittens, The House of Coxhead and The Ransom Note. She’s played support slots for The XX, John Talabot and Jan Blomqvist, as well as appearing on the same bill with Bonobo, Basement Jaxx and Moderat at One Love Festival. She has produced official remixes for Hauschka, Ambassadeurs, NZCA/Lines and reworked John Talabot, Charlotte OC, James Blake and Kolsch.

Villette will also be launching her own imprint label ‘Injazero Records’ in 2014 which will see the release her debut EP ‘Crossed Wires’
