I just received an email from London based producer ‘Mista Shifta’ asking us to post his latest EP on the blog, I took a little listen and thought i’d comply. He’s served up a 4 track EP of classic Disco and Hi-Energy Re-edits. The first track on the EP ‘Hot Night’ is a funked up version of Linda Cliffords ‘Red Light’ from the Fame soundtrack. The second track on the EP is a clever re-sampling of the vocals from Pointer Sisters – ‘Dare Me’ which was most famously sampled in Junior Jacks ‘Stupid Disco’ Track 3 ‘Light Up’ is a rough and tough edit, with little sample snippets from The Brothers Johnson track ‘Make me wanna wiggle’. Finally track 4 ‘High Energy’ is his retake on Patrick Cowley & Sylvesters Hi NRG classic ‘Do You Wanna Funk’

It’s a great little EP, and currently doesn’t have a label signing, so anyone reading this fancy picking it up feel free to get in touch with Mista Shifta, and for the rest of you readers, hopefully it’ll get a release soon, we’ll keep you posted.
