Tetra State – review

2014 August 21

So the bank holiday is fast approaching and last weekend feels like a distant memory, but I couldn’t let the week pass without giving a mention to the Tetra State party I played at last Friday. I was a last min addition to the bill for what would be only the second Tetra state party, which was being held at Plan B in Brixton. I was delighted to hear the line-up which was a veritable feast of DJ’s, including ‘Russ Yallop‘ of Crosstown Rebels / Hot Creations fame, then Sleazy Deeps‘ main man ‘Rob Made’ female Duo ‘Eli & Fur‘ who are making waves fast, plus one of Lipstick Disco’s faves ‘Von Chill’ and last but not least ‘moi‘ aka yours truly aka ‘Michelle Manetti.

The handsome ‘Von Chill’ returned for one weekend only from his summer Ibiza Chill session to treat us to the early warm up, setting the scene for the evening, I came along with some piano and Jackin house bangers to get the girls on the dancefloor.. and I did delightfully notice there was quite a healthy quantity of girls compared to the usual sausage fest style nights that usually go hand-in-hand with deep house nights. Next up was Rob Made, dropping some G-house and Dirty Sleazy beats, Russ Yallop picked up the pace with some Deep Tech house which he’s so synonymously known for and finally Eli & Fur closed the show with some dirty deep house and bass beats.

The line-up was lush and the DJ’s were all an absolute pleasure to work with, so much fun to be had in the booth and this was mimicked on the dancefloor. The DJ’s were dropping all sorts of bombs, here’s a selection of my faves from the evening:

The next Tetra State will be in October. Watch the Facebook / Twitter / Website for more details.

All the tracks were dope, but Up Up really stood out; it was so different and unique! The deep groove bass line with a high modulated synth that keep things weird and different (which we love). Out favorite part were the vocals that sounded so dirty (perfectly fit for a club setting that has more ladies than usual). And the change up half way was great, definitely a track that doesn’t fit to any specific genre, soo good! Overall, great track!
